Bearing capacity of strip footings on jointed rock mass

چکیده
Rock masses are non-homogenous, discontinuous media composed of rock material and naturally occurring discontinuities such as joints, fractures bedding planes. Due to the presence geological faults planes, compressive strength modulus elasticity jointed mass significantly reduced measurement behaviour these below foundation becomes a challenging task. Previous researches have dealt with bearing capacity strip footings on for concentric, eccentric, inclined loading, separately. But, very limited work has been carried out determining under eccentric-inclined loading together. In this study, pressure footing investigated. To make problem, more realistic, load was applied resting horizontal mass. A parametric study also develop some non-dimensional correlation between different parameters including GSI, e/B ratio, inclination, capacity, etc. Three-dimensional analysis by finite element method using PLAXIS 3D software. Modified Hoek–Brown criteria used simulate elastic taken into consideration analysis. From results, it can be concluded that values drop eccentricity increases. This indicates increases, diminishes. The value decreases increasing inclination respect vertical. current correlations developed data from non-linear elasto-plastic FEA forecast footing’ settlement tilt shallow foundation. These connections rely well breadth ratio. results obtained holds goods comparing FEM

Seismic Bearing Capacity of Strip Footings on Pile-Stabilized Slopes
This paper develops an analytical method to calculate seismic bearing capacity of a strip footing, which is located on a slope reinforced with rows of pile. The resistance of passive pile is determined based on normal and shear stress of the soil around the pile, which is then compared to other analytical methods. This comparison indicates an acceptable agreement. The variants of the study incl...

متن کاملBearing Capacity of Strip Footings near Slopes Using Lower Bound Limit Analysis
Stability of foundations near slopes is one of the important and complicated problems in geotechnical engineering, which has been investigated by various methods such as limit equilibrium, limit analysis, slip-line, finite element and discrete element. The complexity of this problem is resulted from the combination of two probable failures: foundation failure and overall slope failure. The curr...
متن کاملBearing capacity of strip footings on unsaturated soils by the slip line theory
The bearing capacity of strip footings on unsaturated soils is studied using slip line theory. The suction profiles considered are non-uniform with depth and correspond to vertical flow of water by infiltration or evaporation. The slip line theory assumes a plastic equilibrium state of a Mohr-Coulomb soil in which suction influences are included using the effective stress concept. This paper sh...
متن کاملEffect of Fuzzy Boundaries on the Bearing Capacity of Footings on Two-Layered Clay
In this study, fuzzy logic was implemented to formulate the fuzziness of layer boundaries for a two-layered clay soil. A field of two-layered clay with fuzzy boundaries between layers was generated, and then the bearing capacity of strip footing on this field was calculated by the assumption of plane-strain conditions. The Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion was used and bearing capacity calculation...
